William E. Martin is a 1987 graduate of Boston College Law School. His areas of concentration include zoning and land use, commercial real estate development, personal injury, medical malpractice and business litigation, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy law. Bill is the Richmond Town Moderator and a member of the Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a past member of the Town’s Finance Committee and was the Co-Chair of Richmond’s School Building Committee. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of the Berkshires, Inc. and of the Board of Directors of Girls Inc. where he served as its Treasurer and President.

After graduation from Boston College Law School, Bill became an associate with the Boston law firm of Choate, Hall & Stewart. There he was a member of the Real Estate and Bankruptcy Departments, as well as the firm’s Real Estate Workout Group. Since returning to Berkshire County, Bill has gained significant civil litigation experience in both the District and Superior Courts. He has represented many clients in serious personal injury claims, including automobile accidents, medical malpractice and product liability claims. While a partner of Martin and Oliveira, LLP in recent years, Bill recovered over $6 million dollars for his clients.

More recently, Bill has retuned his focus to commercial real estate development. He has represented developers in multi-million-dollar projects, including three major hotel projects in Berkshire County. He is also heavily involved in representing ski area clients, both in transactional and litigation matters. He is a member of the National Association of Ski Area Defense Lawyers. He is hoping to open an office in Park City, Utah by 2024.
